There were some excellent posts published on WordPress in the month of June. And no, I don’t mean the highly repetitive content that’s featured on “Freshly Pressed.” Here are the top 10 posts that made the Literary Vittles cut:
Lisa wrote a heartfelt essay about the merits of living at home after graduation and the all-too-easy assumptions that many people make when they learn you’ve had to move back in with your parents. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but rather, a smart and reasonable decision.
Chris wrote what is probably the most accurate review of a Michael Bay film ever published. BOOM CRASH LOW-ANGLE SHOT, indeed.
My favorite blogger hit it out of the park again, this time with a post about being a counselor at a summer theater camp.
Graphic designer Rebecca Wright shared her MFA thesis on her blog. It is truly spectacular.
In an unexpected delight of a post, Chelsey explained why she prefers being “a regular” of local businesses in a big city like Toronto.
My favorite teen blogger, Matt Black, shared some pearls of wisdom in a post entitled “Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Writing.”
Blogger Lightlit, who is currently studying for a Master’s of Children’s Literature, shared a review of Shaun Tan’s famous book The Red Tree, about depression in children. Now I want to read it!
Film blogger Flashback/Backslide explained what “The Uncanny Valley” is. (Hint: it’s the reason you freak out when you see a robot that looks “too human.”)
Cecilia shared her adventures in Tokyo’s flourishing book district, and managed to pick up on some subtle, but intriguing, differences!
Finally, although Hannah’s blog always makes me want to go to Iceland, her post on a natural hot river (think “hot spring,” but significantly larger) was especially wanderlust-inducing.
