Last-minute Christmas recipe: Easy Cranberry Sauce

Merry Christmas Eve! Just in case anyone has been invited to a Christmas dinner/party and doesn’t know what to bring, here is an incredibly easy recipe for cranberry sauce. It’s a pretty common one, so I’m not taking credit for coming up with the recipe myself.

You will need:
-1 bag (approx. 12 oz) raw cranberries
-1 cup water
-1 cup sugar
-optional: a couple of strips of orange peel or the peel of a kumquat

Instructions:

1). Boil the cup of water in a pot on the stove. Add sugar; stir. Turn the heat down to low and let simmer for 3 minutes.

2). Add the bag of cranberries. Cook 5-10 minutes. Cranberries are done when they have “popped” and the liquid is slightly syrupy.

3). Let cool on burner. It should solidify some as it cools.

Serve & eat! Tastes good hot or cold. Store in fridge, covered, to keep.
